At the beginning of my time of learning in Comp 1, I think the first real idea that struck me was the idea of different literacies. I define it as an idea to me (at the time) because I didn't necessarily expect that a literacy is constrained in study with in actual literature. I guess this sparked my brain into thinking of the different possibilities I could make into literacies. Now this might be simple for someone else to agree with, but I had to know why literacy wasn't just confined to English(my definition of English in this context being an English related class) like I thought it was originally. My whole life had passed and I had no idea basketball was a literacy, or eating was a literacy. This is what really astounded me the most, knowing that things aren't confined to one set of laws, or rules. It is more of a reassuring factor, than it is anything else. It gives hope to different situations and experiences we have.
